The program provides the opportunity to brush up on ERISA basics or give new attorneys a comprehensive introduction to the complex world of ERISA and employee benefits law, while getting CLE credit. Marie E. Casciari will be presenting on the following two panels: “Benefit Claims – Part I: Administrative Procedures” and “Benefit Claims – Part II: Litigation Overview.” The first panel will cover the statutory basis for pre-suit appeals, when such appeals may be excused, and the rules and regulations governing pre-suit appeals. The second panel will cover topics arising in the litigation of employee benefit claims, including basic civil procedure, the availability of juries, discovery, evidentiary considerations, and the disposition of claims.
